Developed by NCFL's experts, the Verizon Literacy Program Self-Assessment Tool (VLP-SAT) is a free, online tool to assist program staff improve instruction to maximize literacy achievement for literacy students. The tool is divided into sections based upon age groups:

• Early Literacy
• Elementary School-Age Literacy
• Adolescent Literacy
• Adult Literacy

The assessment can be taken in individual topic areas only (such as early childhood literacy) or the entire assessment can be taken by a comprehensive program serving adults and children. By taking the VLP-SAT, participants gain a firm understanding of the areas in which they excel and those that need improvement. Even more, the tool links to additional free resources on Thinkfinity.org that can be used to enhance services.
