Training Descriptions
Foundations in Family Literacy
Learn about the four components of family literacy services—Children’s Education, Adult Education, Parent Time, and Parent and Child Together (PACT) Time—and the research that supports literacy development. Though primarily applicable to those new to the field of family literacy, the training is also rewarding for experienced practitioners who want to “renew and review” their knowledge of family literacy.
$415 registration fee includes manual and materials, continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments.
All Your Parents = AYP
Increasingly, schools realize the significance of parent involvement for children’s academic success. Research clearly shows that parent involvement is important. Although teachers and schools recognize this “why,” they often report that they do not know “how” to get parents involved. In this age of accountability, adequate yearly progress, and achievement gaps, we need to look beyond involvement; we need to engage parents as supporters of their children’s learning. Explore evidence-based strategies for parent involvement that help parents support children’s overall academic goals and help schools meet the No Child Left Behind goals of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
$300 registration fee includes manual and materials, continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments.
Literacy Everywhere, All of the Time: An Introduction to National Early Literacy Panel Findings
What interventions impact preschoolers? What early literacy practices does research support? Come and learn what the National Early Literacy Panel (NELP) has to say about interventions and practices that build foundational early literacy skills and lead to successful reading outcomes. Early literacy is not a stand-alone topic, to be truly effective it needs to be imbedded into environments, daily schedules, activities and interactions.
$225 registration fee includes manual and materials, continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments.
