Position Announcement: ESL Specialist
The National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL), a private, nonprofit organization located in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a candidate to fill the position of ESL Specialist to work with Hispanic/Latino family literacy programs.
Position Description – This person will report to the Project Director and will be responsible for supporting ESL family literacy model development throughout the United States. Essential tasks are varied and include design and development and delivery of high-quality training and technical assistance to select program cities; development of organizational, instructional and curriculum resource materials that support the implementation of high quality ESL family literacy programs; development of strategies that connect NCFL in the area of ESL family literacy programming to national ESL organizations, political leaders and education leaders. Extensive travel is involved and candidate must be willing to relocate to the Louisville, Kentucky area.
Skills/Qualifications Required – Bachelor’s Degree in education field required, Master’s and/or ESL credential preferred; bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish; three years’ ESL teaching experience with children and/or adults; working knowledge of school systems, specifically elementary schools; experience with comprehensive family literacy services; training experience in development and delivery; superior verbal and written communication skills; superior interpersonal skills. Must be committed to diversity and able to appreciate multiple perspectives to build consensus on difficult issues.
