National Conference on Family Literacy

The National Conference on Family Literacy brings together practitioners, philanthropists, volunteers, policy makers and literacy advocates. This year, NCFL celebrated the 18th annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. Family literacy advocates Henry Winkler and Jan Goldstein inspired and energized the more than 1,200 attendees with their personal stories of how literacy changed their lives.

A central focus of the Conference was surviving – and thriving- during these difficult economic times. Author Greg Mortenson showed us how with very little money, he brought schools and education to rural Afghanistan and Pakistan. Michael Levine, Executive Director of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, shared the latest information and research about using digital technology to improve literacy for children.

Thanks to all who made the 18th Annual National Conference on Family Literacy such a huge success. We count on you as family literacy advocates to help make our world a more literate place – one family at a time.

Mark your calendars now to attend NCFL’s 2010 Conference in San Antonio, Texas, April 11-13! More information about general session speakers, concurrent sessions, and registration coming soon!
